GCSSD 2021 State of the JIF Dinner
For the 24th year in a row, the Gloucester, Cumberland, Salem School Districts Joint Insurance Fund (GCSSD JIF) celebrated Member School District successes at their Annual State of the Joint Insurance Fund Dinner. The dinner meeting is organized to reward and recognize the extraordinary efforts of member districts for their commitment to provide a safe and healthy environment for students, staff and community by actively participating in risk management programs. Rewards were earned by Members who reduced the number of accidents by focusing on local safety efforts. Member Districts were acknowledged for their hard work with recognition plaques and monetary awards. In all, eighteen member school districts were recognized and received awards totaling $73,500.

Frank Maurer, Business Administrator from Salem County Special Services SD Salem County Vocational –Technical SD received the Safety Star of the Year. Frank created and manages District Safety Committees, implemented a facility inspection programs to identify hazards, ensures required staff safety training is current, and promotes a positive safety message throughout the district campuses.
Angela Harper, Transportation Coordinator from Gateway Regional High School received the Safety Star of the Year Award. For over 25 years, Angela has worked tirelessly proving her commitment and dedication to the District and has ensured the safe transport of many thousands of students. She goes above and beyond on a daily basis, always lending a helping hand and embodying the spirit of safety.
Pennsville Public School District, Greenwich Township School District, and Salem County Special Services School District were each recognized as Safety District of the Year for their ongoing contribution to safety efforts, earning an additional $2,500 reward. BCIP 2021 State of the JIF Dinner
For the 25th year in a row, the Burlington County Insurance Pool Joint Insurance Fund (BCIP JIF) celebrated Member School District successes at their Annual State of the Joint Insurance Fund Dinner. Rewards were earned by members who reduced the number of accidents by focusing on local safety efforts. Utilizing BCIP JIF safety services, districts build and maintain responsive internal accident reporting systems. Member Districts were acknowledged for their hard work with recognition plaques and monetary awards. In all, 38 member school districts were recognized and received awards totaling $148,000.

Mark Mignone, Director of Building and Grounds, Voorhees Township BOE won the Safety Star of the Year Award for his commitment to Safety, including establishing safety committees and spearheading critical safety and training initiatives. He worked diligently to fulfill COVID safety plans that were outlined to the public, including driving four hours round trip to collect UVC Lighting Disinfection System units on a holiday and working the night shift for a week to fulfill the promise to students and staff that the rooms would be safely disinfected by UVC lights every night along with the usual cleaning procedures.
Tony Voiro, Director of Building and Grounds, Lenape Regional HS District also won the Safety Star of the Year Award. In his 16 years as Director of Buildings and Grounds, he has implemented the use of safety saw stop units in all wood technology classes, assisted in the installation of over 800 new locks for all classrooms and worked closely with the District Administration to give guidance for the reopening of schools. In addition, he created written procedures for keeping facilities properly ventilated and disinfected during the COVID crisis. He constantly places the safety of students and staff above all else.
Delanco Township BOE, Shamong Township School District, Evesham Township School District and Moorestown Township Public School District were recognized as Safety Districts of the Year for their ongoing contribution to safety efforts, each earning an additional $2,500 reward.

ACCASBO Celebrates 30 Years at the 2021 State of the JIF Dinner
Each year, the Atlantic & Cape May Counties Association of School Business Officials Joint Insurance Fund (ACCASBO JIF) celebrates member school district successes at their Annual State of the Joint Insurance Fund Dinner. The dinner meeting is organized to reward and recognize the extraordinary efforts of member districts for their commitment to provide a safe and healthy environment for students, staff and community by actively participating in risk management programs. This year, 23 member school districts were recognized and received awards totaling $88,000.
Jeff Wellington, Supervisor of Special Projects, Hamilton Twp School District received the Safety Star of the Year for his extraordinary efforts to ensure the safety of all staff and students both in terms of physical health and safety, as well as mental health and safety. Jeff has worked for the district for over 29 years and is dedicated to eradicating the stigma of mental health issues.
Kelly Brazelton, Business Administrator, Pitman Board of Education also received the Safety Star of the Year. She embraces the value of safety and risk management within the school district and recognizes the importance they play in providing a safe and productive learning and working environment.
Folsom Board of Education, Somers Point Board of Education and Pitman Board of Education were recognized as Safety Districts of the Year for their ongoing contribution to safety efforts, each earning an additional $2,500 reward.

Voorhees Twp. BOE Receives the BCIP JIF Cyber Safety Super Star Award

The Burlington County Insurance Pool Joint Insurance Fund (BCIP JIF) recognized an exceptional school district effort in tackling Virtual/Cyber Safety. Bruce Taylor, Director of Educational Technology of Voorhees Township Board of Education, received the BCIP JIF Cyber Safety Super Star Award for implementing multi-factor authentication throughout the school district. The BCIP JIF is recognizing his efforts because virtual safety is personal, pervasive and can have a life-long impact on everyone involved with school districts. By recognizing his exceptional efforts, we hope to encourage all JIF member school districts to invest in crucial cyber security initiatives. We thank Bruce Taylor and Voorhees Township Board of Education for keeping all of us safer.
2021 Boiler Operator Seminar via Zoom
The SPELL JIF’s 2021 Boiler Operator Webinar was conducted August 10th via Zoom. Joe Biluck, SPELL JIF Consultant and President of GrāMin Consulting Services along with John Demree, Master HVAC-R Technician and HVAC-R Instructor reviewed Compliance Obligations, Boiler System Types, Controls & Protection Devices, as well as Emergency Response Planning.

Session 1: EHRIP Update – Joe Biluck will discuss the EHRIP program, which helps reduce environmental risk among member districts by providing a qualified consultant’s third party evaluation.
Session 2: Mold Prevention – John Geitz and Joe Biluck will focus on protocols for helping to reduce the risk of mold formation through proper inspection and maintenance.

Each year, the Gloucester, Cumberland, Salem School Districts Joint Insurance Fund (GCSSD JIF) rewards the extraordinary efforts of member districts for their commitment to provide a safe and healthy environment for students, staff and community by actively participating in risk management programs. In particular, we recognized the challenges faced by school district employees who carried out their responsibilities while adjusting to the new normal that has become the hallmark of 2020.
In all, twenty (20) member school districts were recognized and received awards totaling $90,500.
• Elk Township School District, Woodbury Heights Board of Education, and Salem County Vocational Technical School District were recognized as Safety District of the Year for their ongoing contribution to safety efforts, earning an additional $2,500 reward.
• Angela Harper, Transportation Coordinator from Gateway Regional High School received the Safety Star of the Year Award for going above and beyond on a daily basis, and for always lending a helping hand to embody the spirit of safety.

In particular, we recognized the challenges faced by school district employees who carried out their responsibilities while adjusting to the new normal that has become the hallmark of 2020.
In all, thirty-eight (38) member school districts were recognized and received awards totaling $164,000.

- Magnolia Public School, Medford Lakes School District, Mount Laurel Township BOE, and Riverside Township BOE were recognized as Safety Districts of the Year for their ongoing contribution to safety efforts, each earning an additional $2,500 reward.
- Rick Hillman, Manager of Buildings and Grounds from Mercer County Special Services and Mercer County Technical Schools won the Safety Star of the Year Award for his commitment to providing a secure learning environment, and for going above and beyond to ensure both Districts are safe.
- Christine Vespe, Superintendent from Shamong Township School District also won the Safety Star of the Year Award for spearheading a safety initiative to provide training to staff members in “Stop the Bleed” bleeding control protocols for trauma.
- Jodi Lennon, Business Administrator from Riverside Township Board of Education won the Safety Hero Award for her ongoing contribution to safety efforts.

Each year, the ACCASBO JIF rewards the extraordinary efforts of member districts for their commitment to provide a safe and healthy environment for students, staff and community by actively participating in risk management programs. In particular, we recognized the challenges faced by school district employees who carried out their responsibilities while adjusting to the new normal that has become the hallmark of 2020.
In all, 23 member school districts were recognized and received awards totaling $99,500.
• Lisa Smith RN, School Nurse from Folsom Board of Education received the Safety Star of the Year Award for serving as an invaluable resource to research and educate staff and students on measures to protect the school from COVID-19. Her dedication allowed the school to reopen safely and successfully.
• Judi Bessor, Facilities Director from Mainland Regional High School also received the Safety Star of the Year. She is a committed and valued employee who has gone beyond the daily working hours to ensure the facility is safe and secure, both before and during this pandemic.
• Brigantine Public Schools, Folsom Board of Education, and Pitman Board of Education were recognized as Safety Districts of the Year for their ongoing contribution to safety efforts, each earning an additional $2,500 reward.
