For the 24th year in a row, the Gloucester, Cumberland, Salem School Districts Joint Insurance Fund (GCSSD JIF) celebrated Member School District successes at their Annual State of the Joint Insurance Fund Dinner. The dinner meeting is organized to reward and recognize the extraordinary efforts of member districts for their commitment to provide a safe and healthy environment for students, staff and community by actively participating in risk management programs. Rewards were earned by Members who reduced the number of accidents by focusing on local safety efforts. Member Districts were acknowledged for their hard work with recognition plaques and monetary awards. In all, eighteen member school districts were recognized and received awards totaling $73,500.

Frank Maurer, Business Administrator from Salem County Special Services SD Salem County Vocational –Technical SD received the Safety Star of the Year. Frank created and manages District Safety Committees, implemented a facility inspection programs to identify hazards, ensures required staff safety training is current, and promotes a positive safety message throughout the district campuses.
Angela Harper, Transportation Coordinator from Gateway Regional High School received the Safety Star of the Year Award. For over 25 years, Angela has worked tirelessly proving her commitment and dedication to the District and has ensured the safe transport of many thousands of students. She goes above and beyond on a daily basis, always lending a helping hand and embodying the spirit of safety.
Pennsville Public School District, Greenwich Township School District, and Salem County Special Services School District were each recognized as Safety District of the Year for their ongoing contribution to safety efforts, earning an additional $2,500 reward.
