GCSSD Celebrates at the 2022 State of the JIF Dinner

Each year, the Gloucester, Cumberland, Salem School Districts Joint Insurance Fund (GCSSD JIF) celebrates member school district successes at their Annual State of the Joint Insurance Fund Dinner. The dinner meeting is organized to reward and recognize the extraordinary efforts of member districts for their commitment to provide a safe and healthy environment for students, staff and community by actively participating in risk management programs. Rewards were earned by Members who reduced the number of accidents by focusing on local safety efforts. Utilizing GCSSD JIF safety services, districts build and maintain responsive internal accident reporting systems.  Member Districts were acknowledged for their hard work with recognition plaques and monetary awards.

In all, twenty-three (23) member school districts were recognized and received awards totaling $77,000.

Safety Star Winner Donna Contrevo, BA of Gateway Regional School District

 

Donna Contrevo, Business Administrator from Gateway Regional High School received the Safety Star of the Year Award.   Donna has been a leader within her school districts and the GCSSD Joint Insurance Fund for over two decades. She is a champion of risk management and safety, helping to guide and implement critical programs and policies to minimize losses in the schools.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Delsea Regional High School and Salem County Vocational Technical School District were each recognized as Safety District of the Year for their ongoing contribution to safety efforts, earning an additional $2,500 reward.

BCIP Celebrates at the 2022 State of the JIF Dinner

Each year, the Burlington County Insurance Pool Joint Insurance Fund (BCIP JIF) celebrates member school district successes at their Annual State of the Joint Insurance Fund Dinner. The dinner meeting is organized to reward and recognize the extraordinary efforts of member districts for their commitment to provide a safe and healthy environment for students, staff and community by actively participating in risk management programs. Rewards were earned by members who reduced the number of accidents by focusing on local safety efforts. Utilizing BCIP JIF safety services, districts build and maintain internal accident reporting systems.  Member Districts were acknowledged for their hard work with recognition plaques and monetary awards. In all, forty one (41) member school districts were recognized and received awards totaling $148,000.

Christy Durst-McMaster, Paraprofessional from Moorestown Township Public School District won the Safety Hero of the Year Award. Durst-McMaster’s quick actions saved a choking child in the cafeteria.

JoAnn Ricciani, School Nurse from Springfield Township won the Safety Star of the Year Award. Ricciani continuously demonstrates a supportive and caring mindset, always putting the needs of the students and her colleagues above her own as she works tirelessly to maintain a safe and healthy environment at Springfield Elementary.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Delanco Township BOE, Medford Lakes School District, Northern Burlington Regional School District and Voorhees Twp. BOE were recognized as Safety Districts of the Year for their ongoing contribution to safety efforts, each earning an additional $2,500 reward.

ACCASBO Celebrates at the 2022 State of the JIF Dinner

Each year, the Atlantic & Cape May Counties Association of School Business Officials Joint Insurance Fund (ACCASBO JIF) celebrates member school district successes at their Annual State of the Joint Insurance Fund Dinner. The dinner meeting is organized to reward and recognize the extraordinary efforts of member districts for their commitment to provide a safe and healthy environment for students, staff and community by actively participating in risk management programs. This year, 26 member school districts were recognized and received awards totaling $91,500.

Rocco Rosetti, Facilities Manager of Galloway Township Public Schools received the Safety Star of the Year Award. Over the last 5 years, Rocco made tremendous improvements to the district’s facilities, including safety and security measures. He supervises facilities projects, arrives to work early, stays late and answers calls and e-mails at all hours of the day. He embodies the spirit of safety on a daily basis, going above and beyond his job responsibilities in the interest of safety and assisting the district in these efforts at every level.

 

 

 

 


Folsom Board of Education, North Wildwood School District and Hammonton Board of Education were recognized as Safety Districts of the Year for their ongoing contribution to safety efforts, each earning an additional $2,500 reward.

2022 NJSBA Workshop

After 3 years, the SPELL JIF team attended the NJ School Boards Conference in Atlantic City in October 2022. We loved connecting in person to our JIF member Business Administrators and their School Board Members.  And our own Scott Tennant provided valuable insight on managing risk while presenting at the “Confronting Cyber Liabilities” session both days of the conference. Way to go Scott!

For the 24th year in a row, the Gloucester, Cumberland, Salem School Districts Joint Insurance Fund (GCSSD JIF) celebrated Member School District successes at their Annual State of the Joint Insurance Fund Dinner. The dinner meeting is organized to reward and recognize the extraordinary efforts of member districts for their commitment to provide a safe and healthy environment for students, staff and community by actively participating in risk management programs.  Rewards were earned by Members who reduced the number of accidents by focusing on local safety efforts.  Member Districts were acknowledged for their hard work with recognition plaques and monetary awards.  In all, eighteen member school districts were recognized and received awards totaling $73,500.

Frank Maurer, Business Administrator from Salem County Special Services SD Salem County Vocational –Technical SD received the Safety Star of the Year. Frank created and manages District Safety Committees, implemented a facility inspection programs to identify hazards, ensures required staff safety training is current, and promotes a positive safety message throughout the district campuses.

Angela Harper, Transportation Coordinator from Gateway Regional High School received the Safety Star of the Year Award. For over 25 years, Angela has worked tirelessly proving her commitment and dedication to the District and has ensured the safe transport of many thousands of students.  She goes above and beyond on a daily basis, always lending a helping hand and embodying the spirit of safety.

BCIP 2021 State of the JIF Dinner


For the 25th year in a row, the Burlington County Insurance Pool Joint Insurance Fund (BCIP JIF) celebrated Member School District successes at their Annual State of the Joint Insurance Fund Dinner.  Rewards were earned by members who reduced the number of accidents by focusing on local safety efforts. Utilizing BCIP JIF safety services, districts build and maintain responsive internal accident reporting systems. Member Districts were acknowledged for their hard work with recognition plaques and monetary awards. In all, 38 member school districts were recognized and received awards totaling $148,000.

Safety Star Winner Mark Mignone- Voorhees BOE Director of Buildings and Grounds with Voorhees Business Administrator Helen Haley

Mark Mignone, Director of Building and Grounds, Voorhees Township BOE won the Safety Star of the Year Award for his commitment to Safety, including establishing safety committees and spearheading critical safety and training initiatives. He worked diligently to fulfill COVID safety plans that were outlined to the public, including driving four hours round trip to collect UVC Lighting Disinfection System units on a holiday and working the night shift for a week to fulfill the promise to students and staff that the rooms would be safely disinfected by UVC lights every night along with the usual cleaning procedures.

Tony Voiro, Director of Building and Grounds, Lenape Regional HS District also won the Safety Star of the Year Award. In his 16 years as Director of Buildings and Grounds, he has implemented the use of safety saw stop units in all wood technology classes, assisted in the installation of over 800 new locks for all classrooms and worked closely with the District Administration to give guidance for the reopening of schools. In addition, he created written procedures for keeping facilities properly ventilated and disinfected during the COVID crisis. He constantly places the safety of students and staff above all else.

The dinner meeting is organized to reward and recognize the extraordinary efforts of member districts for their commitment to provide a safe and healthy environment for students, staff and community by actively participating in risk management programs. This year, 23 member school districts were recognized and received awards totaling $88,000.

Jeff Wellington, Supervisor of Special Projects, Hamilton Twp School District received the Safety Star of the Year for his extraordinary efforts to ensure the safety of all staff and students both in terms of physical health and safety, as well as mental health and safety. Jeff has worked for the district for over 29 years and is dedicated to eradicating the stigma of mental health issues.

Kelly Brazelton, Business Administrator, Pitman Board of Education also received the Safety Star of the Year. The Burlington County Insurance Pool Joint Insurance Fund (BCIP JIF) recognized an exceptional school district effort in tackling Virtual/Cyber Safety. Bruce Taylor, Director of Educational Technology of Voorhees Township Board of Education, received the BCIP JIF Cyber Safety Super Star Award for implementing multi-factor authentication throughout the school district. The BCIP JIF is recognizing his efforts because virtual safety is personal, pervasive and can have a life-long impact on everyone involved with school districts. By recognizing his exceptional efforts, we hope to encourage all JIF member school districts to invest in crucial cyber security initiatives. We thank Bruce Taylor and Voorhees Township Board of Education for keeping all of us safer.

2021 Boiler Operator Seminar via Zoom

The SPELL JIF’s 2021 Boiler Operator Webinar was conducted August 10th via Zoom. Joe Biluck, SPELL JIF Consultant and President of GrāMin Consulting Services along with John Demree, Master HVAC-R Technician and HVAC-R Instructor reviewed Compliance Obligations, Boiler System Types, Controls & Protection Devices, as well as Emergency Response Planning.
