Each year, the Burlington County Insurance Pool Joint Insurance Fund (BCIP JIF) rewards the extraordinary efforts of member districts for their commitment to provide a safe and healthy environment for students, staff and community by actively participating in risk management programs.  In particular, we recognized the challenges faced by school district employees who carried out their responsibilities while adjusting to the new normal that has become the hallmark of 2020.

In all, thirty-eight (38) member school districts were recognized and received awards totaling $164,000.

    • Magnolia Public School, Medford Lakes School District, Mount Laurel Township BOE, and Riverside Township BOE were recognized as Safety Districts of the Year for their ongoing contribution to safety efforts, each earning an additional $2,500 reward.
    • Rick Hillman, Manager of Buildings and Grounds from Mercer County Special Services and Mercer County Technical Schools won the Safety Star of the Year Award for his commitment to providing a secure learning environment, and for going above and beyond to ensure both Districts are safe.
    • Christine Vespe, Superintendent from Shamong Township School District also won the Safety Star of the Year Award for spearheading a safety initiative to provide training to staff members in “Stop the Bleed” bleeding control protocols for trauma.
